Revolution Fast Base Foundation Stick | REVIEW

Yes I am late to the hype with this product but it was so hard to get hold of, I managed to grab one about 3 weeks ago and like to test it for a couple of weeks before giving a true opinion.

Now, when it comes to stick foundations I am not the biggest lover, I have previously tried the Makeup Forever HD foundation stick after hearing sooo many good things about it but I absolutely hated it and with the near £30 price point it just wasn’t worth it in my eyes. But I am a big lover of Revolution makeup and at only £5 I just had to try this foundation stick.

This foundation comes in 18 shades which is amazing for the drugstore as usually there are only about 7/8 different shades? I picked up F8 which on the Superdrug website is described as being for ‘medium skin tones with yellow undertone’ I always wear fake tan so always look for a foundation with a yellow undertone rather than pink.

I have quite dry skin so was sceptical before using this as I usually tend to go for a liquid foundation that I can blend in with a sponge. I used a budding brush to blend the foundation in and then went over it with a damp sponge. I heard that this foundation was very dewy and easy to move around so it needed setting but with my skin type I very rarely set my face with a powder as my foundation never moves and I don’t want to dry out my skin even more so the first time I used it I didn’t set it and after about 6 hours it had started to go very oily and even coming off my chin.

The next time I used it I did use a setting powder but only where the foundation came away before and it lasted well but I still wasn’t overly impressed with the product. However after a couple more uses I realised how much I actually prefer it to some of my higher end foundations! Everyone needs to try this foundation and now I am excited to try the foundations from the Revolution Pro range!

Makeup Revolution – Conceal and Define concealer | REVIEW

Okay so everyone and their dogs are talking about this makeup revolution conceal and define concealer at the minute, it is such a hyped product and for only £4 it is an absolute steal.

DSC_1305 EDIT.jpg

I went in to my local superdrug to pick one up and went for the shade C3, I like my under eye to be quite bright and this was the lightest one that didn’t have pink undertones however I do want to get shade C6 for when I have tanned or just want less of a bright undereye.

DSC_1152 EDIT.jpg

Of course, the same as everyone else as soon as I saw the doe foot applicator I thought of the tarte shape tape concealer but for a fraction of the price. The formula is so thick but also creamy and very blendable. I use a damp beautyblender for my concealer because I always tend to crease so don’t like too much product, I struggle to find a concealer due to this reason however the Makeup Revolution concealer is by far the best – yes I still crease but compared to other products it is very minimal.

I would recommend anyone to go and buy this concealer, it is such a bargain! I can see 2018 being a very good year for Makeup Revolution…

Too Faced chocolate bar palette

So for christmas I finally got the Too Faced chocolate bar palette that I have been lusting over for months and I can happily say it doesn’t disappoint!

First of all the packaging is gorgeous, Too Faced are known for their beautiful packaging they never fail to disappoint with it. The mirror is very handy in the palette, not many high end palettes include one so I was really happy when I opened it up and saw it.

IT SMELLS OF CHOCOLATE!!! What better combo than makeup and chocolate?! As soon as I opened it I could smell it straight away, it smells soooo good. Seriously.

Now, the actual product…

The colours are all gorgeous, I am still yet to use some of the shimmer shades as I keep going for either the pinks or gold but I will try them all eventually. I love how they all have names it makes life so much easier when telling people how you created the eye makeup you’re wearing. They blend like an absolute dream, I thought my morphe palette was amazing until I got this, it has made me realise that actually the morphe shadows are really chalky and not very easy to blend at all. You can really tell that this product is more luxurious.

You really can just use this one palette for a look as there are perfect colours for every part of the eye. For example I use white chocolate to set my primer, I then use salted caramel for my crease colour and the first transition colour, I then gradually go in with milk chocolate and semi sweet focusing more on the outer corner and building it and finally using triple fudge only on the outer corner to darken it, of course I then take one of the shimmers (usually either marzipan or creme brulee) all over the lid. p.s – see how much easier that was to explain because the shadows have names?

At £39 it is quite a steep purchase but trust me it is worth every penny. Although I did get this bought for me I will still be going out and buying the semi sweet palette because I am so impressed with this. There is nothing I can fault it on.

Thanks for reading and let me know any other palettes you have that are worth trying out!!

Christmas gift ideas

Christmas is literally around the corner so what a perfect time for me to create a christmas gift list full of ideas of presents you could get for someone else or things you want to ask santa for! I always look for inspiration of what other people ask for when it comes to buying gifts for people so hopefully this will come in handy for you all and hopefully there is something for everyone!

Okay so the first present just has to be this Too Faced Grand Hotel christmas gift set which comes with three christmas scented eyeshadow palettes and a mini better than sex mascara. Oh my god when I first came across this in debenhams I wanted to cry the colours in the palettes are soooo beautiful!! This is perfect for any Too Faced lover and just any girl who loves makeup! It is £46 which seems a lot but for the amount of products you get it is such good value. Unfortunately it is currently sold out on debenhams website but they are restocking!! Or go and check your local store!

This next one might seem quite random but if you have a girlfriend or mum etc a nice watch is a lovely present (obviously depending on your budget) personally I think a good watch is such an investment! I have been eyeing up this Marc Jacobs rose gold one forever it is just so pretty and I love the big face! It is £159 which sounds like a lot but when you compare that to the price a mans designer watch is it’s crazy!! Also, watches like this will last a lifetime. They’re timeless pieces.

Now of course a perfume just had to be included, what’s christmas without a new perfume!! And this is the one that is definitely on my list. My friend has just recently purchased this and I was with her when she got it and ohhhh my god it is amazing ever since then it’s been on my christmas list! I have had other paco rabanne perfumes like black xs and they’re just always so nice and fresh smelling. I always change my perfumes but I still have so many that I love. I don’t really like overly expensive perfumes as for some reason to me personally they’re always too musky smelling and I prefer sweet smells. Another perfume to consider is Jimmy Choo/Blossom I have been using that for over a year now and I still absolutely love it!

If you’re from the UK then you probably already love boots christmas gift sets so I have just picked out a few that I think make lovely presents that are so affordable! So first up is this soap and glory she’s the gloss kit. It includes 4 of their sexy mother pucker lipglosses which are really really good! at £14 it is a perfect stocking filler.

The next one is this little Ted Baker ‘double the dazzle’ lipstick and nail varnish duo, again this is a perfect stocking filler and is only £8! It comes in different shades from pink to red and the packaging is so pretty and makes it seem pricier than it actually was!

I will do some more of these types of posts in the run up to christmas perhaps one targeted at men, another about presents you can get on a budget etc! I hope you enjoyed reading this and it has helped you if you’re struggling with present ideas!

Thanks as always for reading X

Makeup wishlist!

makeup wishlist

Hey everyone! So I thought I would put together a wishlist of my most wanted makeup products at the minute and here they are!

Laura Mercier translucent powder seems to be a staple piece in EVERYONES makeup bags and for some reason I just haven’t ever got round to buying it probably because of the £29 price tag! I have always just opted for a much cheaper NYX one but I definitely make the switch soon!

The Nars creamy concealer again is one I have been wanting to try for sooo long but I am just too obsessed with my urban decay naked skin one! I have heard nothing but good things about this concealer.

Another concealer is the Too Faced born this way, I have the foundation and I absolutely love it and this is supposed to be exactly the same so I am sooo excited to get my hands on this!!

Too faced melted nude lipstick (can you tell i’m obsessed with this brand yet) I saw Sarah Ashcroft use this in one of her videos and I just loved the way it looks! I have been after this for months but living in the UK makes it so hard to get hold of Too Faced items in stores, I don’t like buying before a swatch!

Then my final two pieces are for the eyes, the first being an OCC pigment and I am just obsessed with glitter pigments I think they look so pretty and I go out a lot so they are perfect for a glam night out look!

Then finally of course is the Violet Voss holy grail palette ughhh just look how pretty it is!! I have tried to get this so many times on beautybay but it’s literally always sold out so hopefully I will be able to get my hands on it soon!

If you have ever used any of these please let me know how they are! and let me know what’s on your makeup wishlist! 🙂

My latest makeup buys

Well I just want to start by saying I can’t believe I haven’t done a single blog post in about 3 months I have just been so busy as i’ve started a new job and to be honest i’ve seriously been so de-motivated but I am back and feeling very positive! So end of that rant let’s get back on to my favourite topic…makeupppp!!

I have recently been purchasing quite a lot of new makeup to try out, some I haven’t included in this as I haven’t found them to be very good and I just want to talk about the good products! I find it very hard to find good drugstore products but this month i’ve found a few really good products that will be replacing my high end holy grails!

disclaimer – this could be a very long post!

There are two products i’m not going to depth in, they are the NYX highlighter which is in the shade 01 Sunbeam, this is an amazing light cream highlighter, I like to use this before a powder highlight for a stronger highlight! Also just a quick shoutout to the maybelline gel liner this is my new holy grail eyeliner it is incredible! so smooth making it easy to apply and so pigmented!

So first of all the lip products..

FullSizeRender (8)

I was so excited when I went to meadowhall and came across a NYX stand in boots, a few months back I picked up one of the soft matte lip creams in Newcastle and loved it so much I just needed some more! They go on so well and have amazing lasting power! I still use a lipliner before applying these, and I use this all over my lip as it helps give the product something to stick too to help make it last a lot longer.

Here are the swatches of the products, the one on the left is called Istanbul and is number 06 and the right is called Cairo and is number 16. As you can see they are extremely pigmented, this was only one swatch of each! I do prefer Cairo as it a nude colour which is my go too colour however the pink is just so pretty for the summer! also for £5.50 each can you really go wrong!

FullSizeRender (9)

Next is this gorgeous MAC lipstick in the shade sweet and sour, it is a cremesheen so it looks quite glossy, I think this shade would look so nice in a matte but nevertheless it’s still gorgeous and I just had to get it for the summer!

FullSizeRender (10)

Then my final lip product is this rimmel lip liner, I can never just wear lipstick without a liner it’s just not the same so I am always on the hunt for new shades, I desperately needed a pinky nude so I came across this in superdrug costing me £2.99, for one the price is just incredible! the product is fantastic it goes on so easily, sharpens well and is blendable! the only downside is it only comes in 5 shades 😦 the shade I have is spice and I will definitely be purchasing the others!

FullSizeRender (11)

Next is another rimmel product, I can’t believe how good these two rimmel products are as i’ve never rated this brand very high until now! So this product is the brow this way brow sculpting kit in dark brown. I use ABH dipbrow constantly however I ran out and needed something desperately so I picked this up not expecting a lot for it but it is amazing! the gel is such a good consistency and blends so easily, the set does come with two small brushes but I don’t use these. For only £3.99 this is a great product for people who are just starting to do their eyebrows or want to play about! The powder is also great, very easy to blend just a great affordable product!

FullSizeRender (12)

Okay sooo this photo does not do this product justice at all! It is a loose eyeshadow pigment by peaches and cream in the shade prin, it is a snow white glitter! it is sooo pretty on the eye, there is so much pigment to this glitter and with products like these I like to use either a glitter glue, concealer or eyelash glue! any of these products give the product something to stick too and helps make the product look a lot more intense. I am 10000% going to be ordering more of these I personally think they are a bargain at £6.95 each, although the pot looks small a little really does go a long way!

FullSizeRender (13)

And last but not least is my new holy grail foundation, two faced born this way! oh my god I have been after this foundation for months but was so unsure on the shade but coming across a stand in debenhams newcastle I have never been more excited of course I had to buy it! When it comes to foundation I do believe in ‘you pay for what you get’ your base makeup is so important so price isn’t an issue for me with foundation! However this foundation is only £29 which I don’t think is a lot at all for what the product does! If you read my last post on the too faced hangover primer you would have seen all the ingredients it includes: coconut water, alpine rose and hyaluronic acid. These three are amazing for your skin and the foundation even includes them all!! so both products just work so well together!

I got the shade warm beige even though I am nowhere near this dark but I always have fake tan on I cannt stand my skin looking pale!! It has such a nice golden undertones which really works well with my tan! If anyone is after this foundation I seriously recommend this it is super high coverage! AND IT HAS A PUMP!

If you got to the end of this realllly long post then thankyou for reading! I will do some looks using these products soon so you can see exactly how they look on the skin!

Too faced hangover primer aka the best

I feel like I haven’t done a blog post in forever but I have just been super busy with uni work! I am so excited to share this product with you all though it is the too faced hangover primer, I have been using this for just over a week now and it is amazing!

I used to use the benefit that gal primer which I loved but it ran out so quickly I thought I would look into other products. First of all I got a tester of the mac prep and prime but when it’s on the face you can see it contains glitter which I really didn’t like so I started researching other primers, I didn’t want a silicone based one as I HATE the way it feels. I also have quite dry skin so wanting a good hydrating primer which is why I opted for this amazing primer.

It contains coconut water which is so hydrating for the skin it feels amazing, there is also a lovely smell to this product – no silicone either wooo! This product literally does what it says on the box and I will never be looking back. You don’t need a lot of this product all though I do tend to put extra on my forehead as this is where I get dry patches so I like it to be well hydrated and primed. Below is how the product looks out the bottle.

Oh and lastly… IT COMES WITH A PUMP!!! Everyone looks a pump don’t they?!

If you have any other primer recommendations for me to try please let me know, i’m always keen to try new products!
