My Tanning Routine

I have been obsessed with using fake tan for years, my first tan being St Moriz (if you know, you know) When I was around 15. I am now 21 and think it’s safe to say i’ve had my fair share of disasters but feel like I have spent enough years experimenting to find a routine that works well for me.

The first thing I do when it comes to tanning is soak in the bath the night before and shave, exfoliate and all that jazz. I always shave the night prior as otherwise I find it stings and doesn’t go on as well as it should because of my pores being open, the reason I get a bath instead of shower is so I can fully soak my body to make sure I remove any old tan before I put a fresh layer on.

So the night after that I will tan, I prefer to tan on the night so I can sleep in it and it will develop as I sleep rather than being a sticky mess all day and having to worry about what to wear etc. A few hours before I will moisturise my face as this acts like a barrier cream and stops it clinging to any dry patches and by putting it on a few hours before it sinks into the skin more. I will also put some on my elbows, knees and any dry areas I may have just before tanning to stop build up.

My favourite ever tan is the cocoa brown one hour tan, I have been using this tan for a good 2 years now and it is honestly the best I have tried although I do branch out to try new ones, nothing so far has ever beat this.

If you use this tan I would love to see your before and after! Or please leave me any tans you think I should try in the comments!

Too Faced chocolate bar palette

So for christmas I finally got the Too Faced chocolate bar palette that I have been lusting over for months and I can happily say it doesn’t disappoint!

First of all the packaging is gorgeous, Too Faced are known for their beautiful packaging they never fail to disappoint with it. The mirror is very handy in the palette, not many high end palettes include one so I was really happy when I opened it up and saw it.

IT SMELLS OF CHOCOLATE!!! What better combo than makeup and chocolate?! As soon as I opened it I could smell it straight away, it smells soooo good. Seriously.

Now, the actual product…

The colours are all gorgeous, I am still yet to use some of the shimmer shades as I keep going for either the pinks or gold but I will try them all eventually. I love how they all have names it makes life so much easier when telling people how you created the eye makeup you’re wearing. They blend like an absolute dream, I thought my morphe palette was amazing until I got this, it has made me realise that actually the morphe shadows are really chalky and not very easy to blend at all. You can really tell that this product is more luxurious.

You really can just use this one palette for a look as there are perfect colours for every part of the eye. For example I use white chocolate to set my primer, I then use salted caramel for my crease colour and the first transition colour, I then gradually go in with milk chocolate and semi sweet focusing more on the outer corner and building it and finally using triple fudge only on the outer corner to darken it, of course I then take one of the shimmers (usually either marzipan or creme brulee) all over the lid. p.s – see how much easier that was to explain because the shadows have names?

At £39 it is quite a steep purchase but trust me it is worth every penny. Although I did get this bought for me I will still be going out and buying the semi sweet palette because I am so impressed with this. There is nothing I can fault it on.

Thanks for reading and let me know any other palettes you have that are worth trying out!!

My skincare routine

Having a consistent skincare routine is so so important to keeping your skin looking fresh and glowy. I’ve decided to share the products I am using at the minute and absolutely loving.

After trying out so many drugstore products that just do not work for me I decided to splurge on some more high end products. I feel like you can’t really put a price on skincare as it is so important. Of course if drugstore stuff works for you then go you! but for me it just doesn’t work on my skin. I picked up this Liz Earle set specifically for dry/sensitive skin in my local boots store for £45 which includes the very famous cleanse and polish, skin tonic, moisturiser, an exfoliator and two muslin cloths.

I don’t use makeup wipes to remove my makeup as they do not remove all the product at all and also they’re just so so drying on my face. So the first thing I do is just wash my face with water to remove most of my makeup then I pump some of the cleanse and polish on to my fingers and rub it in to my face and then wipe my face with a wet muslin cloth.

The next step I do is take a cotton wool pad and pour some of the tonic boost on to it and rub this all over my face, this step always shocks me as you look at the pad after and see how much makeup is on there even after you thought it was all off, another reason why makeup wipes are no good!!

Then I use the moisturiser and oh my god my face feels amazing! It leaves your skin feeling so hydrated but it also soaks in quite quick which is what I like. I think this is now my holy grail moisturiser, up until now it was always the benefit one for me but this one is 100 times better!

I do this routine every night but not every morning as my skin is quite sensitive I don’t like to overload it with products. Sometimes I will do it in the morning it all just depends on how my skin is at the time but usually I just wash my face with water and apply my moisturiser.

I don’t use the exfoliator everyday, I use it about once a week it depends on how my skin is as although I got the set specifically for dry/sensitive skin the exfoliator is just for any skin type so I don’t want it to be too harsh for my skin.

Aswell as using these liz earle products I also drinks lots of water, at least 2 litres a day and I wear factor 50 suncream every single day on my face, so many people underestimate how much damage the sun actually does to your skin even in the winter , wearing suncream will help keep your skin looking youthful. I do also suffer from an allergy to the sun causing my face to come out in a rash which is why I use such a high factor. I have the sunsense sun cream which is not oily at all it leaves your skin with a slight glow and it can be worn alone or under makeup, I really recommend it for a face suncream!

Thanks for reading and feel free to leave a comment telling me your best skincare products! I’m looking for some good face masks at the minute so please recommend!!

If you’re interested in getting this set you can find it here: Liz Earle dry/sensitive skin daily essential kit.

Morphe 35T Palette

So I recently purchased this palette on BeautyBay after lusting over the 35o palette but it being out of stock EVERY single time I wanted to order it so I decided to get my hands on a different one after hearing so many good things about these palettes.

just look at how pretty it is!

First of all, the price. How can you go wrong with 35 eyeshadow colours, yes 35!! for only £21 it is an absolute steal!

The one thing that would make this palette even better would be if it included a matte black as every time I want to do a really dark smokey eye I have to go to another one of my palettes just for a black so it’s quite inconvenient having to take two palettes when travelling. However, you can make a nice smokey eye still by building up the brown colours.

Below is a look I quickly created on my little sister (she is growing out her eyebrows so the hearts were needed) but the colours are sooo pigmented as you can see, especially the shimmers they are just incredible!

My latest makeup buys

FullSizeRender (7)

Well I just want to start by saying I can’t believe I haven’t done a single blog post in about 3 months I have just been so busy as i’ve started a new job and to be honest i’ve seriously been so de-motivated but I am back and feeling very positive! So end of that rant let’s get back on to my favourite topic…makeupppp!!

I have recently been purchasing quite a lot of new makeup to try out, some I haven’t included in this as I haven’t found them to be very good and I just want to talk about the good products! I find it very hard to find good drugstore products but this month i’ve found a few really good products that will be replacing my high end holy grails!

disclaimer – this could be a very long post!

There are two products i’m not going to depth in, they are the NYX highlighter which is in the shade 01 Sunbeam, this is an amazing light cream highlighter, I like to use this before a powder highlight for a stronger highlight! Also just a quick shoutout to the maybelline gel liner this is my new holy grail eyeliner it is incredible! so smooth making it easy to apply and so pigmented!

So first of all the lip products..

FullSizeRender (8)

I was so excited when I went to meadowhall and came across a NYX stand in boots, a few months back I picked up one of the soft matte lip creams in Newcastle and loved it so much I just needed some more! They go on so well and have amazing lasting power! I still use a lipliner before applying these, and I use this all over my lip as it helps give the product something to stick too to help make it last a lot longer.

Here are the swatches of the products, the one on the left is called Istanbul and is number 06 and the right is called Cairo and is number 16. As you can see they are extremely pigmented, this was only one swatch of each! I do prefer Cairo as it a nude colour which is my go too colour however the pink is just so pretty for the summer! also for £5.50 each can you really go wrong!

FullSizeRender (9)

Next is this gorgeous MAC lipstick in the shade sweet and sour, it is a cremesheen so it looks quite glossy, I think this shade would look so nice in a matte but nevertheless it’s still gorgeous and I just had to get it for the summer!

FullSizeRender (10)

Then my final lip product is this rimmel lip liner, I can never just wear lipstick without a liner it’s just not the same so I am always on the hunt for new shades, I desperately needed a pinky nude so I came across this in superdrug costing me £2.99, for one the price is just incredible! the product is fantastic it goes on so easily, sharpens well and is blendable! the only downside is it only comes in 5 shades 😦 the shade I have is spice and I will definitely be purchasing the others!

FullSizeRender (11)

Next is another rimmel product, I can’t believe how good these two rimmel products are as i’ve never rated this brand very high until now! So this product is the brow this way brow sculpting kit in dark brown. I use ABH dipbrow constantly however I ran out and needed something desperately so I picked this up not expecting a lot for it but it is amazing! the gel is such a good consistency and blends so easily, the set does come with two small brushes but I don’t use these. For only £3.99 this is a great product for people who are just starting to do their eyebrows or want to play about! The powder is also great, very easy to blend just a great affordable product!

FullSizeRender (12)

Okay sooo this photo does not do this product justice at all! It is a loose eyeshadow pigment by peaches and cream in the shade prin, it is a snow white glitter! it is sooo pretty on the eye, there is so much pigment to this glitter and with products like these I like to use either a glitter glue, concealer or eyelash glue! any of these products give the product something to stick too and helps make the product look a lot more intense. I am 10000% going to be ordering more of these I personally think they are a bargain at £6.95 each, although the pot looks small a little really does go a long way!

FullSizeRender (13)

And last but not least is my new holy grail foundation, two faced born this way! oh my god I have been after this foundation for months but was so unsure on the shade but coming across a stand in debenhams newcastle I have never been more excited of course I had to buy it! When it comes to foundation I do believe in ‘you pay for what you get’ your base makeup is so important so price isn’t an issue for me with foundation! However this foundation is only £29 which I don’t think is a lot at all for what the product does! If you read my last post on the too faced hangover primer you would have seen all the ingredients it includes: coconut water, alpine rose and hyaluronic acid. These three are amazing for your skin and the foundation even includes them all!! so both products just work so well together!

I got the shade warm beige even though I am nowhere near this dark but I always have fake tan on I cannt stand my skin looking pale!! It has such a nice golden undertones which really works well with my tan! If anyone is after this foundation I seriously recommend this it is super high coverage! AND IT HAS A PUMP!

If you got to the end of this realllly long post then thankyou for reading! I will do some looks using these products soon so you can see exactly how they look on the skin!

Too faced hangover primer aka the best

FullSizeRender (6).jpg

I feel like I haven’t done a blog post in forever but I have just been super busy with uni work! I am so excited to share this product with you all though it is the too faced hangover primer, I have been using this for just over a week now and it is amazing!

I used to use the benefit that gal primer which I loved but it ran out so quickly I thought I would look into other products. First of all I got a tester of the mac prep and prime but when it’s on the face you can see it contains glitter which I really didn’t like so I started researching other primers, I didn’t want a silicone based one as I HATE the way it feels. I also have quite dry skin so wanting a good hydrating primer which is why I opted for this amazing primer.

It contains coconut water which is so hydrating for the skin it feels amazing, there is also a lovely smell to this product – no silicone either wooo! This product literally does what it says on the box and I will never be looking back. You don’t need a lot of this product all though I do tend to put extra on my forehead as this is where I get dry patches so I like it to be well hydrated and primed. Below is how the product looks out the bottle.

Oh and lastly… IT COMES WITH A PUMP!!! Everyone looks a pump don’t they?!

If you have any other primer recommendations for me to try please let me know, i’m always keen to try new products!

New lip combo

Hey guys! So I haven’t yet done a post about any lip products.. there’s a first for everything!

When it comes to my lips I tend to sway more to the natural side, especially after looking back on my old 15 year old self with bright red lips (not a good look for me). I usually go straight to MAC when I want a new lip product as I adore all the shades they do and I really get on with the products.

However, after having a makeover at Urban Decay she used an amazing colour on my lips and I decided I would buy it. It is the colour ‘ex girlfriend’ from the Gwen Stefani collaboration with Urban Decay. The lipstick is £16 and the liner £14 so the price wasn’t an issue for me as I was already used to paying for MAC – but 10% student discount with UD helps!

This shade is lightest of the collection, with it being a nude. It goes on sooo smooth and gives off a sheer effect it is almost like a gloss which i’m so happy with at the minute as i have quite dry lips from the winter weather so matte is just not an option. It is also very long lasting! when it comes to the liner I make sure to not only line my lips but also to fill them in as it helps the lipstick stick and last longer.

(sorry for the awful quality below, I had to use my iphones front camera which are not very great!)

Any recommendations for lip products let me know!
